The Most Powerful Women in Travel

Mary Jean Tully
President
The Cruise Professionals

In June, Mary Jean Tully celebrated 14 years in the travel business. In that time, she has become one of the cruise industry's top salespeople, generating roughly $21 million per year in cruise sales. "We sell everything from the $799 Caribbean pack-age to a $150,000 around the world cruise," says Tully. However, says Tully: "The biggest key to my success is spending the money to train my employees,"

Success is also a matter of going that extra mile. "Little extras mean everything to these clients," says Tully. Over the past year, she has focused her energy on building the agency's online business, "Since we specialize in world cruises, our clients are from all over, so our Web site (www.cruiseprofessionals.com) has helped generate a lot of business. The amount of business we have received from the Internet is amazing." Tully's career in the travel industry began out the need for a job. "I married a Canadian but didn't have a work visa for Canada, and I needed a job. I would never have thought in a million years that it would have done so well," she says of her Ontario-based business.
